There is no written menu at Sushi Yoshitake. After dining at Shikon in January 2016, I was eager to try Yoshitake in Tokyo. It is just one street back from Ginza Chuo Dori – a weekend shopping and pedestrian paradise – on the ninth floor of a brand-new building that opened in January 2019. Sushi Shikon is the first branch of Sushi Yoshitake in Ginza, founded by Master Chef Masahiro Yoshitake, which has held three Michelin stars in Tokyo since 2012. I was there while the sushi-ya’s main chef Masahiro Yoshitake was in Hong Kong setting up the new branch so I knew that there was an outpost in Hong Kong but I always thought it was also named Sushi Yoshitake. So, when I heard the illuminating reviews from friends about Sushi Shikon, I knew I had to tick this one off my list, especially as it’s in home territory on our little island of Hong Kong. The price tag to a fancy meal is one reason why I struggled whether to visit the shop, even I am confident the shop would serve the best sushi one can find in Hong Kong.
