2.1 Introduction

Particulate maters are the fine particles which may cause many health and environmental effects. They can pollute the environment by introducing various particles. Those particles can cause dangerous diseases and cloudy climates. Particulate matters are generated from various activities including industrial, construction, agriculture, transport and all workplace activities. It is also caused by natural activities (e.g. winds etc.). For the estimation of particulate matters in the air, TECORA (PM Sampler) will be utilized to collect the particulates present in the air. Sampling will be conducted for certain time period at identified locations with the help of filters fixed in sampler. The filters are pre-weighted in Electronic Analytical Balance (CX220). After sampling of air, the filters are reweighted to analyze the difference between initial and final weight for estimation of particulates. The figure of Electronic Analytical Balance is given below.

3.1 Introduction

Noise is defined as the presence of unwanted sound. Environmental noise is a major issue in most countries, especially in areas of high population, and the sources of noise and their adverse effects on our wellbeing are varied. In terms of assessing the impact of these issues, we need to be able to make suitable noise measurements, or in some cases, monitor the noise levels for longer periods.
Industrial noise, for example, is a much more exact science, as you are interested in assessing specific noise levels and relating these to legislative or action levels.
Environmental noise is very different because the level of annoyance or nuisance can be very subjective and will elicit diverse reactions from different people. The noise is generated from various activities in the industries and workplaces (e.g. Power plants, Manufacturing Industries, Transportation, Construction sites, Entertainment Venues etc.).

Noise Level is measured by Digital Sound Level Meter such as EXTECH Sound Level Meter or SOLO Sound Level Meter (Black Edition). The unit of Sound Pressure Level (SPL) is dB. GCEEC Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is in accordance to (European Class 1 Standard) complying with standards EU 93/68/EEC and IEC651 TYPE 2 ANSI S1.4 Type 2. Noise monitoring performed using a SOLO Sound Level Meter (Black Edition) conform to IEC 61672-1 (2002) and ANSI 1.11/ANSI 1.4 standards. 5.1 Introduction

Formaldehyde is an organic compound with the formula CH2O or HCHO. It is the simplest aldehyde and is also known by its systematic name methanol. Commercial solutions of formaldehyde in water, commonly called formal, were formerly used as disinfectants and for preservation of biological specimens. It is commonly used in nail hardeners and/or nail varnish. In view of its widespread use, toxicity and volatility, exposure to formaldehyde is a significant consideration for human health. GCEEC will conduct Formaldehyde Testing by using FM-801 formaldehyde meter.

HCHO Measurement; continuous monitoring or spot checks

FM-801 formaldehyde meter is portable, continuous measurement formaldehyde (HCHO) meter now available from Gray Wolf. A reusable sensor cartridge employs the chemical reaction between formaldehyde and β-dike tone on a porous glass. The yellowing that results from this reaction is measured via photoelectric photometry with accurate readings to < 20ppb HCHO, without significant cross-sensitivity from typical background compounds, making it ideal for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) applications. Tests run in as little as 30 minutes. The unit 're-zeros' between 30 minute tests allowing for continuous monitoring, and provides an output for real-time connection to most Gray Wolf platforms.

Some key facts about this ground-breaking new meter:
• The FM-801 may be used for continuous monitoring, and/or for 30-minute spot checks.
• The FM-801 can be interfaced to a Gray Wolf Advanced Sense meter, Wolf Pack monitor or WIN7 Tablet/Notebook. FM-801 readings are simultaneous to readings from any other sensors connected to the Advanced Sense, Wolf Pack, or Laptop, logged into the same data file. Attach audio/photo/video/drawing/text notes to data files for efficient, reliable documentation of environmental surveys.
• The FM-801 base unit can also be used as an independent, simple data-logger. Logged data may be downloaded to Gray Wolf's versatile Wolf Sense PC software.
• Sensor cartridges may also be used as independent passive samplers which are then checked / displayed via the FM-801 Base Unit.

6.1 Introduction

A light meter is used to measure visible light in units of lux or foot-candles. In photometry, luminance is the total luminous flux incident on a surface, per unit area. It is a measure of how much the incident light illuminates the surface, wavelength-weighted by the luminosity function to correlate with human brightness perception. Similarly, luminous emittance is the luminous flux per unit area emitted from a surface. Luminous emittance is also known as luminous existence. In SI derived units these are measured in lux (lx) or lumens per square meter (cd•sr•m-2). In the CGS system, the unit of luminance is the phot, which is equal to 10000 lux. The foot-candle is a non-metric unit of illuminance that is used in photography.

GCEEC will conduct light Intensity measurement by using two portable instruments i.e. Digital Light Meter and Digital LUXMETER. Light intensity measurements (in LUX) was performed utilizing Extech Digital light intensity meter (European Class 1 Standard) complying with standards ISO 8995-1:2002(E) CIES008/E: 2001 in accordance to GCEEC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). And the LUXMETER is complying with standards such as NF EN 12464-1 - Lighting of workplaces (inside), NF EN 12464-2 - Lighting of workplaces (outside), NF EN 12193 - Lighting of sports facilities. A set of three readings were collected and average of which was reported with graphical representation.
